FAQs

Is there an age restriction?

All clients must be aged 18 and over

What can I expect upon arrival?

We will discuss if there are any areas , as a client, you would like me to focus on if this is your first visit and complete a simple Massage Consent Form.

Standard Medical Consent Form

How is the massage conducted?

All clients (male & female)  are fully draped from head to toe throughout the massage. Any necessary turning over takes place under full draping.

Why is there an emphasis on deep regular Breathing?

Regular deep Breathing is a important part of Massage, taking slow measured breaths as the massage progresses.  This is based on the  Ayurvedic Principle of Pranayaam

Many of the massage moves can be deeper and more effective as the client exhales, and this helps the therapist measure the application of pressure to the client's body, at the right interval, relaxing the pressure as the person inhales. Communication and feedback are encouraged to maximise the benefit.

What makes Raynor Massage Therapy effective

Raynor Massage Therapy is very effective in tracing  and releasing points of tension, which are often felt as referred pain elsewhere.

Effective Treatment  of tight muscles / Knots / points of Soreness

Knots in muscles are painful or tender spots in the muscle tissue that feel tight and sore. The painful point can be felt as a nodule or band in the muscle. Trigger points form in muscles as a local contraction in a small number of muscle fibres in a larger muscle or muscle bundle.

They can develop for several reasons: by inflammation of the fascia - the thin layer of connective tissue that surrounds the muscle;  intense exercise; muscle strain, overuse; poor posture; sleeping in an uncomfortable position;  stress or anxiety.

Client Feedback during Massage

The amount of acceptable pressure during the Massage is personal to each client.

I use a system of numbering from 1 to 10, working with the client, where 1 is a light touch, and 10 is the maximum pressure a client wants to take.

Together we aim to be around a 7 or 8, so it is deep, but effective, and doesn't make a client tense up, which is counter-productive.

Mobile Massage

I will consider mobile visiting massage within a reasonable distance of Leeds LS8 2NN, outside of the traffic rush hours, for disabled clients, and wheelchair users, based on the HMRC car mileage rate of 45p per mile , per return journey
